Astronomy basics: what you must know to understand Chinese Horoscope

Astronomy and Astrology are words with similar sound but quite different meanings, the first is an official verifiable science that studies physical facts, such as the mass of the planets, how they move, the chemical composition of the Sun, its magnetic field... things like that.

On the other hand, Astrology tries to show how these physical facts affect people and the environment where we live, for example defining features of people's character, or predicting whether they will have somewhat easy or difficult lives.

With an example, in this image the positions of the stars are given by astronomy, but the Red Bird and its influences is something guessed by astrology:

The red bird of the South Sky

There are people who believe that there is a relationship between what happens in Heaven and what happens on Earth, and, of course, others who believe that one thing has nothing to do with the other, but what is obvious is that if you have a real interest in astrology you have to study astronomy, or at least have a basic understanding of it.

Because of this, I made this section about astronomy as a complement to the rest of this web site about astrology and chinese horoscope, here I hope to include some programs and information mainly related to astronomy but that are essential to understand chinese astrology.
